Pitch is a by-product of Biodiesel production characterized as a mixture of several high-boiling-point components that remains at the bottom of the Biodiesel distillation column. It is formed by long-chain methyl esters, namely triglycerides, diglycerides, monoglycerides and unsaponifiable matter, and is characterized as a high-molecular-weight compound.

Present in highways and road works.

It is a very stable compound, compatible with many substances. The product solidifies at temperatures below 55 °C and therefore needs to be stored hot.

Pitch is used mainly as boiler fuel, since it has a high calorific value due to the composition of its components, as well as in other specific applications defined by industry.
